Mode is a North Norfolk based construction company, engaging in a wide range of construction projects throughout East Anglia. Mode Construction specialise in both new build and refurbishment projects, with vast experience in the bespoke housing, commercial and healthcare sectors.
Formed in early 2015 the Directors created the company with clear directives, to deliver competitively tendered construction projects of the highest quality, and to exceed the aspirations of both corporate and private Clients.
The management structure of the firm consists of three Directors who each excel within their own sector of the company, and as a collective strive to deliver quality projects as a forward thinking business, based on strong core values.
Steve Wheeler, the Construction Director, manages the delivery process of each project, ensuring close communication with Client’s and their Design Team, while monitoring programme and production quality. Steve draws from a wealth of knowledge and proficiency, where he has established solid reputation within the local market place. He started his career as a City & Guilds Carpenter working on projects such as Hampton Court Palace, Kew Gardens and Somerset House, This experience provided a strong foundation from which developed his construction knowledge and keen eye for detail. Steve’s vocation developed within major national and international construction firms as a Project/ Contracts Manager, working on schemes at Heathrow Airport and more locally constructing a new teaching block at Langley School. The Langley scheme was a carbon neutral build, with the inclusion of natural ventilation, biomass technology and the structure formed in cross laminated timber. His ability to assist Design Team’s in developing workable details, while maintaining architectural scope and form, is one of the key value added services Mode Construction offer. This ensures collaborative working during both concept and construction stage. Steve has a keen interest in both motorbikes and cars, vintage enamel signs, antiques and bee keeping.
As Financial Director, Geoff Lane is responsible for all commercial aspects of the business. His role includes competitively securing projects, proactively monitoring & reporting finances to our Clients, while seeking future opportunities for Mode. Geoff adopts an open and transparent approach to cost delivery, and where possible offers options to Client to assist budget constraints. Geoff is an experienced Chartered Surveyor, having worked both as a Contractor’s and Client’s Surveyor across the majority of construction sectors. This dual knowledge of both surveying aspects, enhances Mode’s delivery of cost information and appeasing of commercial expectations associated construction projects. When not working Geoff enjoys travelling, shooting, golf and rugby.
Paul Lane undertakes the position of Business Director, calling on years of experience owning and running multi-disciplined firms in a variety of commercial sectors. Paul is the ‘go-to man’ when seeking impartial advice on the larger company decisions and direction. With a keen eye on cost, but ability to seek a more global view on matters at hand, Paul provides a key balance in maintaining the core values of Mode Construction. As a developer in his own right, Paul is able to offer advice to Client’s looking to maximise commercial opportunities. Beyond his business role, Paul avidly partakes in golf, sailing and shooting.
